
“A 360 degree perspective on inclusion through sport”
Almost 50 representatives from the world of federations, universities and administration, as well as the third social sector, took part in the 8th ASPIRE Sport training session, organized by Union of Sports Federations of Catalonia.
Gerard Esteva, president of the Union of Federations, welcomed the participants and invited to days five lectures that focused on various aspects of the inclusion of refugees and the funding opportunities for sports entities.
The first lecture was presented by Milena de Murga, responsible for social activities of the Union of Federations, and Katrin Koenen, director of scientific affairs of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical (ICSSPE).The presentation concerned ways to increase the skills of professionals working in the field of sport, their knowledge and raise general awareness about refugees.
Núria Vergé from the Red Cross Catalonia, explained the "Refugee" program, and during the days third presentation, Katrin Koenen, touched the challenges of refugee trauma.
The afternoon started with Marisa Fernández, Deputy Director General of the Sports Unit of the European Commission , who described in detail the possibilities of financing sports provided by the European Union. Fernández explained financing for the pilot programs and the #BEINCLUSIVE program.
Finally, Oriol Marcé , Deputy Director General of the Consell Català de l'Esport , closed the meeting with a presentation of good practices of clubs and Catalan organisations in the Erasmus Plus Sport program.
